Redot 26.2 Beta is live!

Redot 26.2 Beta release

Hey Redot community, we’re thrilled to announce the release of Redot 26.2 Beta, the next step in our Long-Term Support (LTS) branch! Building directly on the solid foundation of 26.1, this beta brings polished improvements, new tools, and refinements focused on stability, workflow enhancements, and creator-friendly features.

If you like what we’re doing, please consider supporting our work here: https://www.every.org/redot-foundation. Redot Engine is built entirely by a team of volunteers, every little bit helps keep the lights on.

In this update, we’ve continued our focused efforts to enhance stability while delivering meaningful new features and quality-of-life improvements. Building on the strong foundation of 26.1, Redot 26.2 Beta brings a careful balance of reliability fixes, performance tweaks, and new tools designed to make your development experience smoother and more productive.

HIghlights

  • Smarter External Editor Integration: Working with multiple scripts just got much better. In previous versions (and older Godot releases), restarting the editor while using an external code editor would open a separate editor window for every script, easily resulting in 10+ cluttered instances. Redot 26.2 now intelligently reuses a single editor instance, opening all your scripts as tabs in one window. Much cleaner, faster, and less chaotic.
  • Inverse Kinematics Backported from Godot: Thanks to JoltedJon, Redot 26.2 now includes a modern Inverse Kinematics system. This brings powerful new tools for realistic character animation, procedural rigging, foot placement, and more.

*Important Note:As with any beta release, we recommend backing up your projects before opening them in Redot 26.2 Beta. While we don’t expect any compatibility issues, it’s always better to play it safe.*
